Committee hearings took place in three states yesterday, and we want to give you an update.
Iowa
The House Judiciary Committee passed the Convention of States resolution -- HJR 8 -- by a vote of 11-10.
This is a big victory in Iowa, and we're extremely proud of our team for their hard work under a tight deadline.
The resolution will likely go to the house floor before March 21st. If you live in state, we encourage you to reach out to the members of the Iowa House and encourage them to vote in favor of HJR 8.
Missouri
In Missouri, the House Emerging Issues Committee and the Senate Joint Rules, Resolutions, and Ethics Committee both heard testimony regarding the Convention of States resolution.
Despite the snow and back-to-back committee times, Convention of States supporters packed both hearing rooms to hear Michael Farris, Missouri State Director Keith Carmichael, and several Missouri district captains testify in favor of our resolution.
"The hearing went really well," said Carmichael. "We absolutely filled the rooms up. On the Senate side we had 30 people standing in the hallways. People who didn't get there early didn't get in."

South Carolina
Like Missouri, two South Carolina committees heard testimony regarding the Convention of States resolution yesterday. Unlike Missouri, both committee hearings were scheduled at the same time.
The South Carolina House and Senate Judiciary committees both met at 9:00 a.m. to consider our resolution. Despite the obvious logistical problems this posed, our team in South Carolina stepped up to the plate and gave excellent testimony.
"Yesterday's hearings in both South Carolina houses went very well," said State Director Bob Menges. "Testimonies by our folks was nothing short of incredible and inspiring."
