Idaho Grassroots Army Shows Strength at Surge Day 2025!

Published in Blog on February 05, 2025 by Ken Whaley

The Convention of States (COS) movement is alive and thriving in Idaho! On January 29th, 2025, over 50 dedicated patriots from across the state converged at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise for the inaugural Surge Day for Article V. Their mission? To demonstrate to Idaho’s legislators that the people of Idaho strongly support passing Article V legislation during the 2025 legislative session.

A Day of Action and Influence

Surge Day attendees were fully engaged in the legislative process, observing parliamentary proceedings, including the passage of H34, a ban on mask mandates! They personally delivered legislative packets to all 105 legislators.  The packets included letters from constituents to their representatives, reinforcing the grassroots power behind the movement. Many met privately with their elected officials, while others watched two of our legislative champions, Sen. Todd Lakey and Rep. Jordan Redman, advocating for the COS resolution.

Key Legislative Support and Leadership

The Idaho COS team, including State Director Billy Knorpp, State Grassroots Coordinator Debbie Delaney, Legislative Liaisons Eric Redman and Teresa Halderson, along with Regional Director Catherine Zemanek, led the way in demonstrating the commitment of Idaho citizens to reclaiming state sovereignty.

The Path Forward: Article V Resolution Update

At the suggestion of some legislative leaders, three different Article V applications are being combined into one resolution this year. The collective goals of these different Article V movements are to add amendments to the Constitution to limit years of legislative service, reduce federal spending and restrict federal overreach.

Once the language is finalized, the resolution will receive a print hearing and be assigned a resolution number (RS), making it available for public review. The print hearing, which is largely a formality, is scheduled to be held in the House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee on February 7 at 3:00 ET/1:00 MT. After that, we will await the scheduling of a full public committee hearing.

We Need Your Voice!

Public testimony will be critical in advancing this resolution. COS Idaho has prepared two-minute testimonies for those willing to speak in support of Article V. Making an Impact

Idaho Surge Day 2025 was a resounding success, proving the effectiveness of grassroots activism. COS information was hand-delivered to each legislator, and over 200 letters from concerned Idahoans were either mailed or personally delivered. Our collective efforts sent a clear message: Idaho citizens are ready to take back control through an Article V Convention of States.
