Yesterday marked the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, a charter agreed upon by King John of England on June 15, 1215. The Magna Carta guaranteed certain rights and freedoms to English nobles such as protection of church rights, protection from illegal imprisonment, and access to swift justice.
