Hawaii team and petition signers lay it all out for legislators

Published in Blog on February 01, 2021 by Mark Kenneth White

In spite of the Hawaii state capitol in downtown Honolulu being completely closed to all visitors, guests, and lobbyists, over the past four weeks, the Convention of States Hawaii team has been sending state legislators powerful reminders about why a Convention of States is so important for the nation.

Beginning January 8, 10 newly-elected freshman legislators received a personal note from the State Director, the Handbook for Legislators and Citizens, and copies of 2020’s COS resolution.

Newly seated legislators were given information to familiarize themselves with COS.

On opening day (January 20), each Hawaii lawmaker received the COS Pocket Guide followed the next week with the latest issue of the team’s locally-produced newsletter The COSHI Courier.

The second and third week's documents to Hawaii legislators advocated for limiting federal overreach and greater self governance.

Culminating into a big push to Aloha state legislators, the Hawaii team’s fourth delivery to the capitol gave each legislator the full list of petition signers in their district and a handwritten note explaining the hope and expectations COS supporters hold for an Article V convention.

Amid the many names of petition signers in each district, Hawaii legislators were told how important a Convention of States is to the future of America.

What’s next to be distributed to Hawaii legislators? A big announcement about the 16th state to pass the COS application!
