Has spring really sprung? Congress traps America in endless winter

Published in Blog on March 20, 2019 by Joel Mitchell

Better times ahead.

I heard a bird today. He sang freely and with vigor for all Wisconsinites to hear. In fact, the song reminded me of better days.

Bitter days behind.

The bitter days of winter had pulled me into a hopeless hibernation. But with the snow on the go, I have to admit, I’m thankful that winter is limited. The family time, snowball fights, and sledding is fun indeed. But can you fathom an unending polar vortex hovering over our great state?

But we remain spellbound.

Much like the White Witch of Narnia, our federal government has cast a spell across our land. With no season of change in sight, the money hungry Congress and power hungry Senate timelessly overreach into our wallets and into our lives without term limits to make room for better leadership.

The moment they sit down to their new phone, their first call is to their donors for their reelection and their second call is to the press to serve up more Turkish Delight to their trusting subjects. With a fixed term limit in place, elected officials will maximize their time and focus on serving their constituents best.

It’s time to amend our Constitution to enforce term limits on elected officials, just like we have term limits for the President.

This can only happen through a Convention of States.

Call for a season of change.

Have you called your state legislator yet? It’s time to be heard on this very point. Tell your legislator in a simple and brief voicemail why you support the Convention of States.
