Governor Pete Ricketts visited Norfolk on Friday for one of the many town halls he has attended around the state.
During the town hall, Convention of States Nebraska volunteer Margo Chenoweth-Pospisil asked the Governor what he thought about the Convention of States and using Article V to rein in the federal government.
Governor Ricketts responded this way.
“It’s never been done, but it’s not new,” Ricketts said. “It’s been in the Constitution for a long time because our Founders understood that as government got bigger, our freedoms would become more restricted — and they wanted to give us, as the states, the ability to be able to push back on the federal government. The process itself is something that I do support because it is in the Constitution.” (From the Norfolk Daily News).
