Foundations of Freedom

The Declaration of Independence is the foundation that our Constitution was built upon.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..."

There are four fundamental principles found in the above:

  1. Truths: there is a right and a wrong.
  2. Freedom comes from God, not government. Government's job is to protect the rights God has given us.
  3. The only just power of government comes from the consent of the governed.
  4. Pursuit of happiness: the free enterprise system.

Our great country is off course, but the Framers gave us a tool that bypasses Washington, D.C., allowing We the People to change our trajectory.  

As George Mason once said, "Are we so naive that we believe that a federal government that becomes a tyranny would propose amendments to restrain its own tyranny?"
