When most people think of Florida, they think of sunshine, sandy beaches and Mickey Mouse. However, those blessed to be born and raised here in this great state, as well as those who have adopted it as their winter haven, can take pride in knowing thousands of its residents support The Convention of States Project.
Even more importantly, we can boast that our state leaders and lawmakers saw fit to make Florida the third state to step up and start the Article V process. Three years ago, the Florida legislation passed a memorial, declaring our intent to take part in this historic event, the proposal and ratification of amendments to our United States Constitution through an Article V Convention of States.
But our work here is not done.
Passing the application to participate in the Convention is just the first of three phases of this historical process. It has never before been done. While other states are gearing up to motivate their legislators to take the important step Florida and eleven other states have already taken, our focus is on preparing for the second phase: the selection of commissioners to be sent to the Convention.
There are laws on the Florida books that need to be amended which will address the process by which we will choose these vital figures in this next chapter of our nation’s (and our state’s) history. Our job as Convention of States Leadership is to inform and educate both Florida state lawmakers and its citizens as to what must be done in the very near future to ensure that our great state is an integral part of this monumental and historic process.
We want to rally the greatest army of self-governing citizens who will activate and motivate others to join us in this challenge, engage in this process and take pride in knowing that you are exercising your right as patriotic American citizens.
Come, participate in this process designed to restore our free republic and rein in the out-of-control antics of the Federal Government by restoring the republic and our U.S. Constitution, bringing power back to the states and its people where it belongs.
Come help Florida to continue to blaze the trail for this Article V Convention of States Project.
