Florida team goes to Tallahassee

Published in Blog on March 12, 2020 by Nancy Suits

Report from the team in Tallahassee, Florida March 11, 2020.

Brenda Karlin, Terry Walker, Richard Simo, Laura Smith, Patricia Schuler Moseman.

Members of our Convention of States Florida team gathered at the capitol in Tallahassee a second time in three months on March 11.

Our Florida team rallied to write to Senator Tom Lee, who is attempting to block placing the repeal of the Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) on this year’s ballot.

Regional and District Captains responded to State Director Richard Simo’s call to action. Richard received and delivered 238 letters in person to Senator Tom Lee’s office.

In addition, Joel Thornton, (who is on District Captain Dave Gantt’s team in House District 8 and 9 around the Tallahassee area), did a tremendous email drive to “write your legislator.” He received and delivered 40 letters personally to the respective legislators (unrelated to the CRC.)

In addition to the letters, our rally team fanned out over the capitol and personally delivered a list of petition signers for their districts to each state representative.

The Florida legislative session ends Friday, March 13. Thank you, awesome COS team members for making both of our Rally in Tally events a success!

Special Thanks
