COSA AZ Phoenix Metro Region kicks off monthly meetings

Published in Blog on June 01, 2023 by Ernie Borgoyne

The COS Phoenix Metro Region held its first monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 30th.

It was held at the Pima Canyon Church in Phoenix, AZ, and hosted by Kevin Fuhrman, Regional Captain, Carole Wilson, Joelene Williamson, and Ernie Borgoyne. The purpose was to engage the many COS petition signers in the Phoenix metro area and discuss how to get more involved in its mission.

60% of the petition signers who responded they would attend the meeting showed up. Not a bad start. We all shared our stories of how we learned about COS and our concerns about what’s happening to our country.

Most of us came to Arizona from across the country for various reasons, and one was a new US citizen from England. There were many common themes expressed by the attendees. Some changed party affiliation or quit politics altogether because of general frustration. “What can one person do?” said one. Voting integrity is another major threat.

"My Votes aren't being counted." Dan

"It's gotten really bad in England where I came from." Mary (Will it get this bad in the United States?)

"I'm done being in politics. I want to fight from the outside." Mike

Kevin gave a summary of the Article V process, explaining how all 27 Amendments to the Constitution were initiated by Congress.

But there is another way: by 2/3 of the states introducing amendments that Congress would never do.

“Why haven’t we heard much about COS in the media?” another person asked. It’s a good question, and why we need grassroots support to get the word out.

The meeting concluded with hope and a call to action:

  • Invite a friend to the next meeting (to be held here)
  • Contact and meet with your legislator to educate them on COS
  • Watch COS University videos
  • Tell 10 friends about COS
  • Watch for events where we can set up a booth
  • Tell out-of-state friends & relatives about COS
