Feeling Red, Blue, or We the People?

Published in Blog on November 29, 2017 by Laurie Wheeler

What a contentious election season this has been in Virginia.

Anger. Finger-pointing. Accusations. Is this now the trend for all future elections?

There are certain to be more disgruntled souls even after the election is over. Then what? However we look at it, most of us are either feeling red (angry) or blue (sadn).

Despite who becomes our next state leaders, we still have problems in Washington, D.C.

  • A staggering national debt of $20 trillion and growing
  • The federal bureaucracy increasing the debt
  • Congress controlling states through federal grants
  • The federal government taking power from the states
  • Misinterpretation of the Commerce Clause and the General Welfare Clause, which drives up the debt.

Instead of feeling red or blue, at Convention of States we are feeling 'We the People.’ In America we exercise our power through voting, contacting our elected officials, and even running for office ourselves.

However, we have forgotten that there is another tool in our constitutional toolbox.

With over $20 trillion in debt and an entrenched deep state undermining the will of the people, it's become clear that Washington, D.C. will never fix itself. But there is a growing movement to restore the Constitution by using the tool our Framers gave us.

That tool is an Article V Convention of States.

Through a non-partisan grassroots effort 12 states across America have already called for a Convention of States: Georgia, Alaska, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arizona, North Dakota, Texas, and Missouri.

Our Article V application has been introduced in several other states, including Virginia. The time is now to call a Convention of States.

What can Virginians do?
