Fairfield, CA Local Update with District Captain Wanda Kennedy

Published in Blog on August 27, 2021 by Kimberly Hogan

Assembly District 11 is coming alive with patriots wanting to learn more about Article V and Convention Of States! Thanks to our new District Captain Wanda Kennedy and team member Ann Parkinson.

Wanda is setting a fun, fast, and successful pace for her district with nearly back-to-back events. Having recently hosted the booth at the Fairfield Gunshow in mid-July, this past weekend she was back at it again with a booth at the 29th Annual Tomato & Vine Festival August 21-22.

"It was exciting to work together, as we educated the public to deepen their understanding of Article V and Convention Of States." - Wanda Kennedy, District Captain, District 11

Scores of people came out to enjoy the food, wine, and entertainment to spend a sunny day with their families. This offered the perfect opportunity for the volunteers (all of whom were meeting each other for the first time) to relax and open up, as they learned more about Article V, Convention Of States, and each other.

Wanda managed to find some time to dive a bit deeper with her volunteers, wanting to get to the heart of what motivated them to come from all over California to sacrifice their time and spend the day with her. The answers she received reflected the heart of every patriot in this nation.

After a moment of quiet reflection, Gemini responded by saying,

"Volunteering allows networking of like-minded individuals that support each other, lift each other and validate each other's views,
while allowing discussion of ideas, broadening understanding of differences in views, and fleshing out of the pros and cons of the points of one's convictions,  imbuing them with our passion as well as logic and reasoning."

A point I'm positive our founding fathers would wholeheartedly agree with. Gemini continued,

"Volunteering is a positive and hopeful action that benefits one's own well-being, rather than being passive, non-committal, inactive and, in general , full of negativity. It provides me a feeling of contributing to a worthy cause and provides a general sense of accomplishing necessary goals, rather than just complaining of the state of current conditions and just being angry, disappointed, sad, disillusioned and/or despaired."

That is because Convention Of States gives people something to do. It gives we the people the power to fix what has gone wrong. It is the vehicle that will help us empower our state legislatures to pass resolutions calling for an Article V Convention Of States to propose amendments to the constitution that would address:

  • Fiscal Restraints
  • Term Limits
  • Limit the size, scope, jurisdiction of the federal government

It is the tool the founders gave us to stuff an overreaching, incompetent, leaderless federal government back into its constitutional box. Without having to have any shots fired.

I think Anne Parkinson summed it up rather nicely when she shared why she volunteers for Convention Of States. She says,

"I volunteer with COS to demonstrate my appreciation for the liberties we enjoy every day as citizens of the United States of America. I deeply believe the statement that "freedom isn't free".

She went on to say, "By presenting others the opportunity to sign our petition we open the door for them to express their love of our country and choose to place their name where it can make a difference."

And indeed it can! Article V of our Constitution presents two methods to propose amendments. The first is well known to all and the only method via which we have ever used it to date. That is by 2/3rds of both houses of Congress passing proposals that are then sent to the states where they must then be ratified by 3/4ths, or 38, states.

As it sits right now, we have 15 states that are waiting for 19 more of us to stand up to sit down the federal government. Are you ready to stand for freedom? Sign the petition, then go to the Take Action page and sign up to volunteer. Stand with patriots like those from all over California that gave their time to move us closer to the goal post, this past weekend in Fairfield, CA.

An extra special thank you is in order to all the Grassroots army Volunteers from around California who journeyed to aid in the event:

  • Gemini Apollo Gomez,
  • Rick & Gloria Nugent,
  • Curtis & Lana Cristian, and
  • John & Shirley Zwerlein.

"Every additional volunteer is like a grain of sand in an hourglass, that advances in time toward the outcome desired in whole" Gemini Apollo Gomez
