Congress hasn’t been able to deliver on their biggest campaign promise, but that didn’t stopped Sen. Mitch McConnell this week from shifting the blame to the president.
Multiple media outlets reported yesterday that the senator blamed “excessive expectations” from the President for the perception that Congress hasn’t been able to get anything done. Legislation takes time to pass, he complained, and the President’s timeline for passing the Obamacare repeal was unreasonable.
“Part of the reason I think that the storyline is that we haven’t done much is because, in part, the president and others have set these early timelines about things need to be done by a certain point,” said McConnell, a Republican and the state’s senior senator.
Sen. McConnell should tell that to the millions of American suffering under Obamacare. The fact is, Congress has had plenty of time to pass an Obamacare repeal. They just haven’t had the courage to do it.
Fortunately, an Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that effectively repeal Obamacare -- without approval from Congress.
These amendments can limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, clarifying the founders intent that the national government have only specific, enumerated powers. These powers do not include the ability to regulate healthcare, and constitutional amendments proposed by a Convention of States would make that clear.
If Congress won’t act, the people will.
