Today is Friday the 13th. For most of us, it is an event that happens once or twice a year and is heralded as a harbinger of bad luck, much the same as a black cat crossing your path, walking under a ladder, or breaking a mirror is supposed to bring bad luck.
Whatever your beliefs, Friday the 13th stands out as being different from other days and is generally given the benefit of the doubt - just to be on the safe side.
Just like Friday the 13th, Congress is a harbinger of bad luck. Every day that Congress is in session, every day that Congress passes another piece of bad legislation, is another day of bad luck for the people of the United States. And unfortunately, the bad luck doesn’t stop when the day is over – it goes on and on and on.
The only thing that could make things worse for Americans would be for Congress to be in session every day of the year, which of course we know will never happen.
However, there is another way we can reduce the number of bad days caused by Congress, by placing constitutional limits and constraints on Congress by holding a Convention of States.
Maybe then the ONLY bad days we would have to worry about would be Friday the 13th, and that would be a good thing!
