Whether intentional or not, the Left uses certain improper terms to create a narrative. These can be innocent misspeaks, but with repetition and unity, they can change the story to feed their needs. An example would be the recent Bill signed into Law by Governor DeSantis in Florida. By assigning Leftist terminology, they can distort the original intent of the Bill.
The main stream media has taken a Bill designed to protect children and parents in grades K-3 and renamed it the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill. This act generated angst when none was warranted.
A couple of other examples are “Threat to our Democracy” and “Lifetime Appointment” to the United State Supreme Court. We are not a Democracy but a Constitutional Republic of States. That is why the Electoral College is so important to Republicans and other believers in the Constitution. Each state has equal representation in the Senate and a proportional representation in the House based on state population. We do not elect Presidents by popular vote as in a Democracy but actually the results of state and territory elections. That is a huge difference.
The Lifetime Appointment is also generally accepted because it is used so often. Article III, Section I reads:
The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The judges, both of the supreme and inferior courts, shall hold their offices during good behaviour.
In other words, a Judge or Associate Justice can be removed for cause. We need to be students of our government and not victims of common beliefs, or misbeliefs, if that is a word.
One final example is the Left saying they are members of the Democratic Party. There is no such party. They are members of the Democrat Party and that is far removed from Democratic philosophy.
As Republicans, we have an obligation to know the difference in these terms and to call out those that do not.
