Delaware Convention of States Monthly Newsletter

What did our team do in September?

Above: Our COS Delaware Leadership Team - State Director Ginny Watkins, Legislative Liasons Ben Cassell and Jay Hettler, Regional Captain Ed Preisendanz, and State Communications Coordinator Tanya Hettler - at the Annual Regional Summit in Philadelphia.

Our team learned a lot at the summit from Rick Santorum and others in our region and did a lot of brainstorming.

State Director Ginny Watkins was asked to share what we have been up to because our tiny state has accomplished amazing things!

We were also the best dressed team at the Summit. ;-) The other teams in our region had t-shirt envy.

Fact of the Month: DC stands for District Captain. HD stands for House District, SD is Senate District. Each District Captain is in charge of a House District in the state. There are 41 Representatives and thus 41 House Districts in Delaware.

Role of the Month: What does a District Captain do?

A District Captain helps recruit, welcome, and educate other volunteers in his or her local area, and helps raise grassroots support.
A District Captain welcomes new volunteers in his or her district, and acts as a point person as they join the COS family.
COS helps with this by providing training and connections with people who have expressed interest in getting involved.
A DC educates friends and others locally about Article V and Convention of States.
A DC stays in touch with the State Director and participates in state and national Zoom meetings to keep up to date with all the COS news.
A DC will also inform in-district volunteers of when they can attend, and have their voices heard, at committee hearings and floor votes.
Expected approximate commitment level: 15 hours per month

BTW, if it weren't for Dan and all of his photos we would not even have a newsletter! Thanks so much Dan!

The "Stand Down" is an event that connects Delaware veterans with available resources.
