David Suloff – A Convention of States Power Source

David is a man of wide-ranging interests. He has a broad range of in-depth knowledge in various technical disciplines including welding, auditing, planning, procedure writing, and Quality Control. He has also held the position of District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America for the past thirty years. He is a strong advocate for providing young men direction and teaching them values at an early age.

So, what brought David Suloff to the Convention of States organization? Why did he take on the role of District Captain in HD 38?

“I’m an old Monroe Doctrine guy,” says David. “Why did Theodore Roosevelt think we should be the policemen of the world? He was a Progressive who got us mixed up in everyone else’s business. That led to the proliferation of lobbying, the number one distraction of Washington D.C. politicians.”

David thinks we need to push the government to focus on improving the lives of the people. He would like to see Washington DC focus on promoting energy independence and developing infrastructure projects like a nationwide high-speed rail network.

He believes that political service should be something you do for one or two terms, not a career choice. “Living with the consequences of your choices,” he says. “Will cause you to make more thoughtful decisions. There are too many folks in Washington DC who go along to get along. That’s how we got into the mess we are in now.”

David believes a public servant should represent the people who elected him or her and then return to the community, He feels that if politicians knew that they would have to live with the results of their actions, they would be more mindful of the choices they made while in office.
“When we finally have the first national Convention of the States, it is going to scare the daylights out of the professional politicians!” says David. “And that will be a good thing.”
