Counter the Invasion Part 2.

Published in Blog on April 19, 2024 by Danny Bolden

It has become clear that states must take the lead in protecting the country from invasion from within and without. They must detach from the federal umbilical cord by refusing federal funds. By not taking federal handouts, states have leverage to force Washington to reduce its budget by the amount formerly given to the states. By doing so, the states can more rightly exercise their Constitutional authority.

The amount of authority to be wielded by the states parallels the amount of self-sufficiency demonstrated by the states. States receiving back money accumulated through excessive federal taxation are not justified because of its source. Federal uses for taxes are limited by the Constitution’s Article 1, Section 8.

Key to stemming the overreach of Washington is for states to make use of their authority. While federal powers are listed and limited, state powers and the powers of the People are not. Border security is the responsibility of state governors when the federal government fails to provide that security, and Governor Abbott of Texas, along with governors of other states including Louisiana, are acting upon that responsibility.

Article 4, Section 4 of the U S Constitution mandates that the federal government provide every state protection against invasion:

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

In case the federal government does not provide this protection, the responsibility belongs to the states under Article 1, Section 10, paragraph 3:

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

The states are late to the game, since we have been under invasion for several years now. It is much easier to keep invaders out than to remove them once they are in, but that is the task ahead of us. Leftists will attempt to keep illegal aliens in the country, dole out work permits, and will attempt to give them citizenship, but this cannot be allowed. Ways and means for the states to protect themselves will be looked at next.
