Long-time Convention of States champion, Representative Dan Eubanks, joined the Mississippi team to officially submit House Concurrent Resolution 48 this past Tuesday. It was one of many high points of the Mississippi Capitol Surge, where 35 COS supporters and activists gathered at the State Capitol in Jackson, Mississippi, to educate legislators about COS.
“Support for the first ever Convention of States is growing here in Mississippi,” said Representative Eubanks. “Frankly, it’s growing all across the country! People understand that this is the constitutional solution as big as our country’s problems.”
As dozens of COS volunteers, petitioner signers, and activists from around the state cheered, Representative Eubanks filed our resolution, which defines how many commissioners can be selected to a convention and how they are to conduct themselves on behalf of our state. “This resolution spells out how delegates can be chosen and protected," explained Representative Eubanks.
We are extremely grateful for the support of Representative Dan Eubanks, who also served as the Mississippi Commissioner to the Convention of States Foundation Simulated Convention last August in Williamsburg, Virginia. With courageous leaders like Representative Eubanks on our side, Convention of States will has a powerful ally in Jackson.
This is why it's important for us to continue to show up and speak up at our state capitol to support our champions in these efforts! Join our team today by visiting our Take Action page. After all, as Representative Eubanks has observed, "As we move closer to the calling of a Convention, we won’t be witnessing history, we will be making history!” Be a part of history by volunteering today!
