The Convention of States Maryland team held their state strategy meeting on August 1. This annual assembly is where the team gets together and charts the course for the coming legislative session.
This year's meeting was a little different. The COS Maryland team used the opportunity to recognize the exceptional patriotism of two dedicated volunteers. Mark Meckler joined the attendees via live video link to--as he described--do "the most important thing [he] gets to do in Convention of States."
Mark presented Ce Harrison and Bob Betz with Challenge Coins. Though some were aware of why Mark was joining the meeting, to most (Ce and Bob especially) the award presentation was a complete surprise.
The coin and its accompanying certificate and pin are reserved for "extraordinary volunteers." Only 300 were ever minted, and the mold has since been destroyed.
In awarding the coins, Mark recognized Ce as a liberty-loving patriot to her core. Though continually exposed to the utmost discouraging parts of our political system, Ce is undeterred in her efforts to assist the team.
She is not only an exceptional Legislative Liaison for the team, but also a true servant leader that is always willing to share her experiences to better the members of the team. The entire Maryland team looks up to Ce. She is a visionary in the cause of liberty.
Mark then spoke about Bob Betz and his "willingness to do whatever needs to be done." Bob stepped up to guide the growth of the team as Grassroots Coordinator from his original role of District Captain.
Bob has been an integral part of the onboarding and training of numerous volunteers over the past two years. He recently jumped roles to State Information Analyst in April and quickly became engaged in that role, reaching out for all necessary training and guidance.
He has worked tirelessly to learn and keep the team up to speed with available technology, as well as becoming the team’s personal tech help desk. All whom have the pleasure of working with Bob are inspired by his dedication to the cause of liberty.
Mark's sentiments on both Ce and Bob were heartily seconded by State Director Steve Patten and Regional Director Monica Sellers. They emphasized how essential Ce and Bob have been to the successes of the COS Maryland team.
We are always looking for additional to our team. Take a look here at some of the opportunities to be a patriot here in Maryland.
