The 2024 Conservative Political Action Committee held their annual surge event just outside D.C. this year, and saw a huge turnout from both speakers and attendees! Americans from all over the nation came together to make their voices heard, and Maryland saw representation at the event from both the grassroots and national team.
Paul Macri is the Grassroots Coordinator for the Maryland volunteer team, and is amazingly active in rallying supporters to the cause! He put his energy into representing Convention of States at CPAC this year, informing, encouraging, and defending Article V.
Paul spoke with many individuals throughout the three-day event, and gained more petition signers and support for COS! He even had a respectful and thought-provoking dialogue with members of the anti-Article V crew, the John Birch Society.
Paul got to listen and speak with many heavy-hitters amongst the conservative party during his time in D.C., including Matt Gaetz, Steven Bannon, and President Donald Trump!
But Paul wasn’t the only COS Marylander at CPAC this year. Renzo Rodriguez, a whip-smart intern on the National staff who lives in Montgomery County, also attended the bustling event in D.C.
"I came to CPAC on Thursday and noticed that many Hispanics were also attending. Of course, I was able to see Mike Lindel and Steve Bannon but I was most excited about seeing Bukele. It almost didn't seem real. And his speech was everything I expected; No filter and no political correctness. He called out George Soros, the media, and even the U.N.! It was really cool. Then on Friday all the other speakers arrived. This time the line was insanely long and the place was packed, almost impossible to move. We all wanted to see Trump speak...He walked on staged to the song "God Bless the U.S.A." and kissed the American flag like he always does. The speech was very funny. Later Javier Milei came on and he ended his speech with a very powerful passionate cry for liberty. Finally came Vivek to end the whole show. Afterwards I went to a few after-parties, networked with other groups, got interviewed by New York times, and had many drinks with conservatives. It was a great event!"
Both Renzo and Paul represented Convention of States amazingly well at CPAC this year, spreading the word about Article V and gaining support for the solution as big as the problem!
The sheer amount of attendees at CPAC and events like it demonstrate the national exasperation that Americans have with their federal government, and the determination that We, the People are not going to simply lay down and allow our nation to descend into the unrestrained tyranny and radical oppression of Marxism. We have the tools to fix our nation! The greatest is the omnipotent, holy power of GOD, against whom no power on earth can stand. The second is an Article V Convention of States!
