COS Team Brings Aloha to the Hawaii Capitol

Published in Blog on January 28, 2024 by Mark Kenneth White

Hawaii team members Left to Right: Brett Kulbis, Jason Horstman, Donna and Jack Van Osdol, Lei Lono, Rita Kama-Kimura, Jim Ray, Lori Nip, Ginger Goodwin, Chanara Richmond and Mark White.

On January 24, eleven Convention of States Hawaii team volunteers began their 6-week long, every Wednesday for 1 hour, State Capitol Visit Surge Campaign.

Beginning at noon, the team assembled on the ground floor (photo) and after a review of the day’s handouts, quickly moved through security checks to distribute Article V literature to all House and Senate offices.

Materials passed out to offices included bookmarks with individual district petition signature information for each legislator, plus a new trifold flyer available from the COS PrintShop emphasizing the “we the people" nature of our Article V effort.

The ultimate purpose for these visits is to persuade our elected officials to sponsor our COS Resolution, but the main activity in dropping by any office is to build relationships with that office manager and staff.  Our Hawaii team members, both experienced and new, found that task easy, if not downright fun to do.

Left to Right: Chanara and Ginger prepare their materials for a visit with Sen Fevellas office, while Rita and Jason drop off handouts at Senator Shimabukuro’s office.  Lei Lono explains the new COS Bookmark to Senator Kims Office Manager.

Jim Ray ran into long-time sponsor and friend of COS Hawaii, Rep Sam Kong, before he and Lori stopped by Representative Kapelas office.

You can join the COSHI team for one hour at noon every Wednesday through the month of February to help us visit our legislators' offices.  Click here to become a volunteer activist for COS Hawaii.
