The Convention of States Article V resolution has been filed in both houses of the New York legislature!
Senator Joseph Griffo (47th District) filed J5774 in the Senate. Brian Miller (Assembly District 101) filed C1214 in that house.
This makes New York one of 24 states with active resolutions in 2018. Currently, 12 states have successfully passed the same resolution.
The Convention of States resolution sets the agenda for the convention to consider amendments that "impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress and other federal officials."
In New York, resolutions expire at the end of each calendar year. They will need to be re-introduced in 2019. Please take a moment right now to contact your state legislators and ask them to support the resolution in their respective houses and signing on as a co-sponsor!
