COS New York warriors had a great time at the Richmond County Fair recruiting 173 new supporters for Convention of States.
Labor Day Weekend 2017, COS New York warriors hosted a booth at the Richmond County Fair on Staten Island. New York District Captains and volunteers along with our Grassroots Coordinator for Eastern NY were able to recruit 173 new supporters, including 12 new volunteers.
We were also delighted when a COS supporter from Georgia who recently relocated to Staten Island saw our banner as he was driving by and stopped in to say hello and wish us his best!
This was no small feat, as we had to deal with some rainy, hot and humid weather and the strong opposition to the upcoming vote in November for a NYS Constitutional Convention. Many New Yorkers were firmly against the NYS Con-Con due to concerns about losing pension benefits, particularly union members, and assumed that were somehow connected.
Thanks to our unrelenting District Captains and volunteers, we were able to get the message across and many people who initially shied away from us, came back to listen, learn, and sign our petition for an Article V Convention of States.
