This was the view from our Convention of States display table: Maui's Haleakala volcano, seen from the King Kamehameha Golf Club, site of the 2019 Hawaii Republican State Convention.
Hawaii's third tallest volcano Haleakala (Ha-lay-ah-ka-la) on Maui was the towering, silent host on Saturday, May 11th, for the 2019 Hawaii Republican Party State Convention, which featured a fully-stocked Convention of States display table.
Tim Means--who serves as the Island (Region) Captain for Maui, Lanai, and Molokai islands--manned the prominent information center, providing convention delegates with a wide array of new locally- and nationally-produced reading materials about Article V and Convention of States.
Our display table--seen here just before opening and hosted by Tim Means--proved a popular stopping point for delegates attending the 2019 Hawaii GOP State Convention.
This year's COS table was the fourth display in recent years at a Republican Party event but was the first-ever on the island of Maui. So while many convention-goers had seen our display before, Tim was able to add yet another dozen petition signatures to our growing list of supporters.
To view our display table in detail and hear Tim Means talk about Convention of States, watch this short video:
The Hawaii Republican Party has proven to be a steady coalition partner. In 2017 convention delegates added a Convention of States resolution to its platform and last year added supportive language for COS directly into its party platform.
"The Republican Party of Hawai’i supports the Convention of states: imposing fiscal restraints on government spending, limiting government power and jurisdiction and imposing term limits on all its officials."
