Conservative vs Liberal: The Discussion

Published in Blog on March 19, 2023 by Brian Eakin

Hello my fellow COS volunteers. My purpose today is not to degrade nor dismiss the passionate emotions displayed by any individual within or without the Convention of States. Its rather a poignant need for all the sovereign people of the state of Michigan, and within the various states of America, to join together in the very real need to stop the aristocratic-driven federal government.

People of liberal ideology have a given right enshrined in the Constitution and codified in the Bill of Rights to pursue happiness in whatever form or vision that does not do physical or financial damage to a fellow sovereign person residing in the United States of America. It can be assumed that the conservative Christian, Jew, Hindu, Moslem, or other spiritual person has the same right to worship and use the moral tenants encoded in their religious text to guide their lives that do not do physical or financial harm to another sovereign person. With that maximum in mind, I believe that the goals specified in our mission statement need not be an antithesis to our fellow citizens of a different personal vision.

In my interviews and discussions with people whose ideas are progressive, I have come to realize that an acceptance of their position, which is reasonable and righteous to them, does not have to inhibit the formation of a citizen’s movement to curb federal excess. Once the antipathy created by a different worldview is nullified by an acceptance that they are entitled to their passionate opinion, a reasonable discussion can be had as to the value of the propositions put forth by COS.

The proposed amendment to have term limits placed upon elected and appointed government servants is well received. The other proposed items for consideration are received with thoughtful skepticism. The important concept to be embraced is that there is a discussion. A discussion where their fears and objections are heard and, with consideration for their underlying worldview, a rebuttal can be presented as to the value of the proposed amendments.

Our younger generation has the added perception that the country they inherited is broken. The government has complete control and their voice will be ineffective or the volume and anger have to be excessive so that they can be heard. These perceptions are a massive roadblock to active support and possible volunteer activity.

Our purpose is the reasonable restraint of an out-of-control federal government. We need the participation of all sovereign Americans regardless of race, religion, or sexual identity. A concept that in reality should not be a progressive agenda but one which all freedom-minded people should adopt in order to enjoy the blessings enumerated in the Constitution and the bill of Rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Treat others as you would wish to be treated. A common-sense solution to a number of political problems.
