CT Volunteers for America at the Brooklyn Fair

Published in Blog on September 07, 2022 by Jean Tom

Neither the dog days of August nor expensive french fries could keep tens of thousands from attending the Brooklyn Fair in Eastern Connecticut.

New England country fairs are as popular as homemade apple pie. They are a celebration of hard-working farmers, family values, talented local artists, and the rural lifestyle. People attend to enjoy the simple pleasures of American culture.

No doubt, country fairs are fun. They bring people together.

American Values At Risk
But not everyone was there for fun. A group of 14 volunteers for the Convention of States was there because they no longer take these simple American values and traditions for granted.

In fact, nearly everything about American life as we’ve known it is at risk.

An overreaching corrupt federal government is collaborating with mainstream media and big tech companies (e.g.; Google, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube) to control and manipulate the “news.”

Furthermore, globalist elites are imposing their one-world order agenda. Collectively, these forces are moving us closer to a dystopian future where personal freedoms, family values, healthy food, and economic vitality are all at risk.

What?  That’s crazy nonsense, you say?

Not if you’re paying attention and doing your own research.

The Facts Are Out There
You don’t have to dig too deep to understand that much of what we are hearing from Washington, D.C. and mainstream media isn’t the full and honest truth. The fact is, corruption in Washington, D.C. spills over into both political parties. This should be a concern for everyone.

Heroes At Work
For all of these reasons and more, 14 dedicated volunteers who support the Convention of States attended the Brooklyn Fair.  Most drove from far corners of the state to be there. It was hot. There were thunderstorms. They worked the fair from morning till closing, proactively reaching out to their fellow citizens. Over 200 petitions were signed.

“What really impressed us was the quality of the people we met and their common concerns,” said Bill Guiffredo, Convention of States volunteer.  “A couple from Rhode Island -- descendants from the tribe that celebrated the first Thanksgiving -- related the tribal concern about the moral decline in American society. A woman from the Democrat booth stopped by to say that she is in complete support of term limits. We discussed the other COS tenets and she promised to visit the COS website to further study our positions and brought some literature back to her booth. A few others voiced their Christian faith and we were able to steer them to the Patriot Academy for Biblical Citizenship classes."

Quite a few parents with children paused to accept COS literature and many signed the petition.

"We also received many heartfelt expressions of thanks for being willing to give our time to bring the COS message of hope for a better future," said Guiffredo.

Americans Can Unite
“The Brooklyn Fair is a good place to sow seeds of hope and information about how the Convention of States can help to return common-sense government to America,” said Maureen Zollo, State Director for Connecticut Convention of States. “The forces working against our Republic are in motion and there’s an urgency for Americans to unite on the things that will improve our lives and make our country strong and safe again.”

Regional Director Monica Sellers applauded the Connecticut volunteers for their commitment and support. "This is a very dedicated team that continues to help raise awareness about why the Convention of States is a pathway to return power back to the American people," said Sellers.
