The Commonwealth of Virginia, a key battleground in the early fight for American independence, is again stepping forward to address government overreach. On Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Virginia Senate Rules Committee will review Convention of States Action's '34 Ready' legislation, a crucial step in preparing for the first-ever Article V convention.
34 Ready helps states establish a recommended process for selecting, instructing, and overseeing commissioners to an Article V convention. Additionally, the bill reinforces the state legislature's authority to remove a commissioner who oversteps their designated powers.
According to the COS application, commissioners are limited to proposing amendments that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and establish term limits for federal officials.
By adopting the 34 Ready resolution, Virginia can ensure its readiness for this historic opportunity to reduce federal tyranny.
