Americans are divided on Trump and Hillary, but they aren't divided on THIS

The news cycle is full of poll results today, many of them indicating that the presidential race has transformed from a one-sided victory for the Democrats into a real dogfight.

According to a new poll from Fox News, Americans are evenly split between the the two candidates: Clinton and Trump are in a one-point race among likely voters. With a month and a half to go before the voting stations open, it’s anyone’s race.

Americans might be divided about who the leader of the federal government should be, but they speak with one voice about the federal government itself. A Pew Research Center poll called “Beyond Distrust: How Americans View their Government” indicates that only 20 percent of Americans trust the federal government. Another 74 percent believe elected officials (like Trump or Clinton) seek their own interests, and 55 percent believe ordinary Americans could do a better job in in office.

This election is important, but it won’t change those numbers. The problems within the federal government go beyond one man or women, and they can only be solved via an Article V Convention of States. A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that actually shrink the power and jurisdiction of all three branches of the federal government.

Americans distrust the federal government because the feds try to control every area of American life. Amendments that shrink DC’s power will restore them to the role the Founders imagined, and allow them to perform their limited duties without imposing their will on their constituents.
