We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, -That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
These words from the Declaration of Independence outline the principles and worldview upon which our country was founded. Sadly, the government that was instituted by the Founding Fathers no longer seeks to derive its power from the people. Instead, the government lies, deceives, and sows division in an effort to centralize power.
Thankfully, the Founders outlined in the Declaration that "whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it.”
They would later outline how to alter our government peacefully in Article V of the U.S. Constitution.
