A special message from Jonathan Viaud, Convention of States New Jersey's new State Director.
Hello, New Jersey! My name is Jonathan Viaud, and I am the new State Director for the Convention of States New Jersey team. I have been with COS since 2014, when I first volunteered to be the District Captain of Legislative District 39. In 2017, I then volunteered to be the State Communications Coordinator, and just last month, I was promoted to be New Jersey State Director.
It is an absolute honor to serve you all in this role, and I’m very excited about the work our team is doing in New Jersey. It is still our goal to add New Jersey to the growing list of states calling for an Article V convention.
However, as we examine what made our fellow COS state teams successful in the 12 states that have passed our application, it is abundantly clear that we simply will not succeed in our goal without developing a massive grassroots army. I won’t be able to get this application passed by myself as State Director.
In order to accomplish our goal in the Garden State, we need you to get involved, join our volunteer team, and develop relationships with other COS supporters as we grow our organization. This is the only way we will be able to get our state legislators to support our application.
So, you’re probably wondering, “How do I get involved?” Well, the answer is quite simple. In your browser, click on the Take Action tab. On that page, you will be able to apply to become a state leader, join our volunteer team, and register for the COS Introductory Webinar. You can also visit the Resources page, which is chock full of informational materials and videos.
We all know Washington, D.C., is broken, and the federal government simply will not take the necessary steps to impose or exercise restraint. Our Founding Fathers envisioned such a scenario, which is why they added Article V to our Constitution. Now the responsibility falls to us to rein in the out-of-control federal Leviathan.
