The title says it all! The Convention of States Maryland team, after attending fairs, boat shows, meetings, and rallies, reaching out to legislators and forming those all-too-important relationships, and spreading the word with energy and enthusiasm that would surely have made the Founders cheer, the Old Line State has passed 30,000 signatures on the Convention of States petition.
That means that 30,000 separate supporters have had a message sent to their state and federal Congressmen, which is well over 100,000 emails! That's not even including all the phone calls, text messages, hand-written letters, and in-person conversations that COS advocates excel at.
Meet petition signer number 30,000, Paul Marciniak!
To commemorate this milestone, we had a phone interview with Paul about COS, and his new role in it.
1. Where did you hear about Convention of States?
“I knew about COS for a while, but Steve Bannon’s War Room was the catalyst.”
2. What made you want to support it?
“I know that just complaining isn’t good enough. We need to take action and get involved. No more ‘experts’ telling everyone what to do and pulling us away from the Constitution. That document, endowed by God, is what binds us all together.”
3. What part of the federal government are you most concerned about?
“The Establishment controlling everything. I support equality and fair treatment, but people must be held accountable for their actions.”
4. What Amendment would you like to see come out of the Convention the most?
“Term limits. Why does everyone else, like governors and county council members, have term limits, but not Congress?!”
5. Are you passionate about politics, or do you feel alienated by the system?
“I Served in the Military starting in 1982 for eleven years, and am now a defense contractor, so I’ve really always been aware of Washington’s corruption.”
6. What brought you to Maryland?
“I grew up in Buffalo, but graduated from the University of Maryland, and have mostly lived here ever since.”
7. Would you be willing to testify for Convention of States in 2023?
“Possibly, and I’m willing to learn more.”
While the Race to 50K Signers continues, let's take a moment to appreciate this milestone and the hundreds of hours of citizen activism and sacrifice it took to get here. The COS Maryland team is truly one-of-a-kind, and if anyone can get this resolution passed, it's them!
If you're one of the 30,000 signers, thank you! If not, then please become one, or reach out to friends and family and have them become number 30,001!
