2023 Holiday Letter Writing Campaign

Now that the legislative session has ended for this year with no action in the Senate on HJR 235, our resolution to call for a convention of states, our focus will shift to the primaries next year and the start of the short session after that. The short session will be our opportunity to pass HJR 235 in the Senate making North Carolina the 20th state!

While we did not pass yet in the Senate, we have much to be proud of. HJR 235 passed in the House earlier this year, we continue to grow the grassroots, and believe we have the votes in the Senate. Our resolution and hundreds of other legislation were caught up in the battle over the budget.

But We're Not Giving Up And Will Not Go Away!!!

Between now and the end of the year, we encourage everyone to attend campaign events, gather intelligence on who is running for office and continue to build relationships particularly with your current Senator.

And now is the perfect time to send a holiday greeting card to your house representative and senator.

Please, please handwrite these letters on short note cards, with just a few sentences using the talking points below:

For a Republican:
  • Thank them for their service.
  • Commend the legislature for passing important legislation and overriding Governor Cooper. Examples might include SB 747, an election integrity bill, HB 808 on protecting minors from gender transitioning abuse, or HB 574, legislation that protects women's sports. (Or other legislation you are passionate about.)
  • Wish them a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas and blessings to their families.
  • Sign the card as a supporter of COS HJR 235.
For a Democrat:
  • Thank them for their service.
  • If there is legislation you are aware of that they supported that you support, then thank them for that. (You can find how they voted on legislation by going to this web page finding your legislator's biography page, and go to the Votes tab.)
  • Wish them a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas and blessings to their families.
  • Sign the card as a supporter of COS HJR 235.
You can find your legislators by visiting this web page, and also the mailing address for their office in Raleigh. If there is an address for their local office, or you have their home address, you can send it there instead.

Thanks again for all you do to advance our cause!!

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
