Calling a convention of the states is a goal for our organization and that goal is derived from our plan to build the largest grassroots army in American history. Our organization's mission is developing and supporting citizen education, activation and engagement in the political process.
Missouri is a passed state which means that our state legislature has adopted the resolution to call a convention of the states. Currently, we are working on getting a bill passed which would define how commissioners to a convention are chosen and given their instructions. Once this is accomplished the COS supporters and volunteers will not be sitting on their hands waiting for 34 states to adopt the resolution.
We will be engaging in other areas where freedom, federalism and fundamental rights are in need of protection and/or restoration. Keep in mind that all politics are local. You will have far more influence in your local community than you will in Jefferson City or The Swamp. And, with very few exceptions, the people who serve in state and national government positions almost always start out in local politics. You are in a position to influence the future by educating politicians while they are still green.
F3 encompasses the process by which our national and state COS teams can engage in local politics (city, county or state) to protect our way of life. When approved by the national COS legal team the state teams can use COS resources to support or oppose legislation which affects our 'F3.'
The Missouri state team decides which situations to bring to the national team for approval and you can be our eyes and ears in the field. Below you will find a contact tool to let our state director know of situations which might qualify for intervention.
The main areas in need of protection and/or correction are: 1) our national and state constitutions; 2) education; 3) elections; 4) government; 5) law and order; 6) medical rights; and 7) parental rights.
Decisions to pursue involvement in F3 efforts will be based on: 1) how the suggested violation affects our freedoms and fundamental rights and the principles of federalism; and 2) because of limited resources, how likely we are to be successful.
Freedom - Proposed legislation or ordinances that infringe on our freedoms as outlined in the U.S. Bill of Rights or the Missouri Constitution.
Federalism - Proposed legislation or ordinances that subvert the definition of Federalism, including State and County governments.
Fundamental Rights - Proposed legislation or ordinances that infringe on our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
