[COS-FL Newsletter] September 2021

Hi Patriot,

WHAT IS CONSTITUTION WEEK?

Do you know what happened on September 17, 1787? That's right! Our beautiful Constitution was signed by 38 delegates. It would be an additional 9 months before it was ratified and another 9 months before it was officially our governing constitution.

Every year we celebrate September 15, Article V Day, as part of Constitution Week. With the unprecedented actions of federal, state and local governments still causing discord and confusion in our nation today it has become more apparent than ever before that amendments to limit the federal government are necessary and imperative.

September is the month to brush up on your knowledge and further your lifelong learning interests. There is always more to learn about the time in which the Constitution was written. You can better protect something if you understand it well, and our history is rich with stories of amazing patriots.

COSA has an initiative for Constitution Week in which you can participate while helping your local students. Learn all about it with this downloadable PDF.

Take a moment to tell us what you are doing (or did) for Constitution Week?

We called —

YOU responded!

We want to acknowledge all of you who answered our call in August to share why YOU joined the Convention of States Action. The testimonies are as eclectic as we are as a group of people and it just goes to show how different folks can pull together for a single worthy cause. Our goal requires patience and persistence and you all continue to exhibit that for your own personal liberties. We must always forge forward with love for our beautiful nation and her amazing constitution.

We really enjoyed your responses and we know you will all enjoy reading the responses too. You are not alone. We have an army and we're in it to win.

What's happening in North Carolina?

North Carolina may have been the 12th state admitted to the Union, but they're on the verge of becoming the 16th state to sign on for COSA! If you have friends or family in North Carolina, educate them on COSA an urge them to contact their state representatives.

Educate yourself

Speaking of the Constitution, how about a quick lesson on what Mark Meckler calls "the forehead slap." This is a fantastic short video to brief citizens on why the framers of our Constitution built in Article V — the one thing the framers felt no need to debate about, despite all their differing opinions about everything else.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
