[COS-FL Newsletter] November 2021

Hi Patriot,

Happy National Gratitude Month

We are grateful for YOU

The month of November is National Gratitude Month and it couldn't be a better month since it is also the month of Thanksgiving and Veterans Day. Without doubt, we here in the USA are grateful for the harvest of this beautiful, plentiful nation and for our brave veterans who put everything on the line to keep it here for us.

Many of you know that Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day. It was established in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson as a way to honor the end of WWI. After WWII, it was changed to Veterans Day as a day to honor American veterans of all wars. And so we do!

This month, take time to express gratitude for all the gifts in your life and please be sure to include veterans in your gratitude and in your prayers.

"Your stories"

featuring

Denah Butts, State Communications Coordinator

In 2018, frustrated with Congress, I was researching why they have unlimited terms. I tripped over Convention of States Action (COSA) and, after some initial research, I signed the petition. I wasn’t 100% sure what to think, at first, but the more I learned, the more I saw the perfection of the Convention of States solution. Limiting terms of Congress will never be enough. What of the unlimited unelected and how about the unlimited spending? No, the solution has to be bigger. In COSA I had found the solution truly as big as the problem. So, in February 2021, I finally committed to being a grassroots activist for the first time in my life.

I joined as a Social Media Warrior. But Nancy Suits saw my potential, quickly stepped in as my mentor, and before I knew it, I was State Communications Coordinator. I joyfully give more than I ever thought I would and I LOVE my work with Convention of States. Yes, it’s the solution and I love being part of the solution, but more than that it’s an amazing culture of self-governed individuals who do not all agree on every subject but agree on the mission and do so with kindness and respect for each person’s role in God’s vision.

A Lesson in History

Read all about the Battle of Athens and how a group of returning WWII veterans rescued the town's elections from corrupt politicians. The bravery and determination of these US citizens in protecting their inalienable rights against corruption ranging from their little town all the way to the DOJ will surely inspire you and maybe even restore your faith.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
