[COS-FL Newsletter] December 2021

Hi *|FNAME|*,

December celebrates diversity

December is typically the month that signifies the official genesis of winter with slow mail deliveries, towering pines outlined in snow, and various customs of celebrations from Christmas to Kwanza, from Boxing Day to the
Feast of Stephen.

Interestingly, the Boston Tea Party occurred in this month on Dec. 16th, 1773 and one hundred and sixty-eight years later on December 7th, Pearl Harbor was bombed.

The month of December has its diversities – celebrations of goodwill, and commemorations of the price paid by Americans to keep America free!

Whether the climate of December is the warmth of swaying palms or snowy pines, what we have in common is the gift of diversity working toward the common cause of effective government through the auspices of Convention of States.

No matter the custom, the season of restoring power back to the will of the people will be celebrated by all... December is truly the month of diversity.

MERRY CHRISTMAS from FLORIDA COSA!

12 Days of Activism

Each year, around this time, before we begin to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas, we first celebrate the 12 days of activism. Each day we are provided with an activism challenge to meet. Jason Girard, our National Grassroots Coordinator, encourages all with videos released each day.

The first 3 challenges can be found at:

  1. First challenge
  2. Second challenge
  3. Third challenge
  4. Fourth challenge
  5. Fifth challenge

Follow the rest by checking into Jason's Rumble account each day for the next 7 days.

Motorcycle activism!

Once a year, the beautiful and historic district of Downtown Leesburg transforms its streets and shops into a celebration of music and bikes. This year was no different as people rode in from all over and Convention of States Florida was there to Spread the Word! An amazing team of volunteers led by our own Kay MacQueen gathered over 400 petition signatures that weekend and had fun educating others on our Constitution.

Join our grassroots army!

What can the Boston Tea Party teach us about a Convention of States?

The Boston Tea Party isn't about what you think it was. In fact, it was about something that we still battle today and involves the government's impact on the GDP. Should the federal government, which employs less than 1% of our population, be allowed to have a large impact on our economy?

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
