Colorado, Mark Meckler brings COS to the Wild West
Colorado, USA — April 15, 2024 — Convention of States President Mark Meckler is on his way to the Centennial State to advocate for an Article V convention with the grassroots team in Denver, Colorado, on April 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. MT. Additionally, the Colorado House Committee on State, Civic, Military & Veterans Affairs will host a hearing on the Convention of States application on April 22.
“The Colorado team has been working strong this year, connecting with new legislators — seeking a sponsor for the COS resolution and succeeding,” said Regional Director Deanna Becket. “HJR24-1024 will have a hearing the same week of the rally. Denver will hear the passion in the voices of our grassroots activists both in the hearing room and on the capitol steps."
With over 54,000 Colorado petition signers, Convention of States enjoys broad bipartisan support in the state. This year for their Capitol Rally, the team will gather on the West Steps of the capitol building, 200 E Colfax Ave, Denver, for multiple hours of impassioned grassroots advocacy. The grassroots are also expected to testify in the House committee hearing on Article V next Monday.
Earlier this year, more than 30 skilled grassroots activists participated in the opening day of the Colorado legislative session. They assembled in solidarity to advocate for Convention of States, delivering over 500 letters from constituents to all 100 state senators and representatives. This month’s event seeks to capitalize on this previous success, intensifying efforts to raise awareness about the critical importance of pursuing an Article V convention.
