URGENT CALL to Promote the Passage of HJR-1 in the Ohio House

Pro-life Action needed now in Ohio!

There is a very strong chance that an amendment allowing unrestricted abortion could be added to Ohio’s constitution.

Such an amendment would nullify any and all current pro-life legislation previously adopted in Ohio. As it stands, this abortion amendment will be voted up or down by way of a vote of 50% on Ohio’s ballot during the election in November.

Current legislation proposed by Republicans called HJR-1 moves to increase the threshold for amendment passage to 60%. The passage of HJR-1 will then allow for a special election in August where Ohio voters will be asked to vote on the increase.

The passage of HJR-1 is imperative if we are to avoid Ohio becoming an abortion state. Please write letters now to ensure the passage of HJR-1.

Letter verbiage suggestion is below in italics:

I’ve added the below letter suggestion for guidance. Feel free to use your own or to edit this one any way you like. We want our letters to sound unique and not canned.

Dear Representative X,

I’m writing to you today to ask for your support in the passage of HJR-1 in the Ohio House. It is imperative Ohioans and their legislators do all we can to limit, if not completely eliminate, abortion in our state. The passage of HJR-1 is the next step in ensuring this.

I am extremely upset by the efforts of the pro-choice movement in Ohio to add an amendment to Ohio’s constitution securing unrestricted abortion. This simply cannot happen. Such unethical action opposes natural law that inherently protects human life.

It is my understanding that in order for this resolution to make its way to the floor of the House for a vote, 50 signatures are required on the discharge petition. If you have not signed the discharge petition, I implore you to do so. In addition, please vote for this legislation should it make its way to the floor of the House.

If you have already signed the discharge petition, thank you so much for representing your district and for respecting the sanctity of life.

Sincerely,

Your rep’s photo and name should show up on the map. Click on the name of your rep. and you’ll find your rep’s home page. On the left toward the bottom of the web page you should see an address where you will send your letter. The phone number is listed as well and sometimes the email address. If you do not see an email address, there should be a location on the page to “Contact” your legislator via a submission form. It would be great for you to submit your feelings on HJR-1 here as well.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
