Rep. Ken Ivory on COS at Home

Published in Blog on March 25, 2024 by Matt May

Utah state representative and steadfast Convention of States supporter Ken Ivory will be the featured guest on the April edition of "COS at Home".

Hosted by Convention of States Action regional director and political liaison Jonathan Viaud, the latest episode of "COS at Home" will air on April 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET:

Rep. Ivory is an attorney and represents District 39 in Salt Lake County. He has been a member of the legislature since 2011. He has been instrumental in leading the effort in the Utah legislature to call an Article V convention, and served as presiding chair of the 2016 simulated convention.

Rep. Ivory has distinguished himself as a lawmaker who is acutely aware of the role that the Founders had in mind for state legislators -- particularly checking the abuse of power by a centralized government.

In his quest to add Utah to the roll of states who have passed our resolution, Rep. Ivory has often taken to the floor of the Utah House to remind his colleagues of their constitutional power and responsibilities.

In addition to his support for an Article V convention, Rep. Ivory is a strong advocate for local and state stewardship of public lands. He opposes the 30x30 federal land takeover initiative proposed by the Biden administration.

On "COS at Home", Rep. Ivory will reiterate his commitment to first principles and why he thinks that our movement can help lead to an American renaissance.

In addition to our regular features and Jonathan's in-depth conversation with Rep. Ivory, we will announce the new name of our "COS at Home" mailbag segment and reveal who submitted the winning entry!

Make this exciting and inspiring edition of "COS at Home" appointment viewing. See you on April 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
