How to Create and Edit Templates

Instructions on How to create / Edit Followup Tool (FUT) templates:

1. Request access to the COS Action MailChimp (MC) Account or request help from your SIA.

This MailChimp account will be different than the regional account you use to send out email communication. Most states will have an SIA with access to this account, so check with your SIA first to see if they can help you with the templates.

You must be sure that you edit or create the templates in the COS Action account, not your Regional account. Templates created in the Regional Accounts will not be synced with the Followup Tool (FUT).

Directions on using MailChimp are here.

2. Use MailChimp to review / edit your templates:

A. Go to the “Templates” section.

B. Search for your state initials in the following format “FL-FL” or “CO-CO”, etc.”

C. Be sure to not edit the title of the Template. Editing the title will create a new template and require manual updating in the FUT.

D. Make the edits that you want to your template.

E. Check all the links in your templates and make sure they are pointing to and not URLs, and not broken URLs.

F. Important: Replace your recruiting codes as follows. The merge tag for the recruiter ID has changed to *|SENDERREFID|*. In addition, in NB the ids were preceeded by “?recruiter_id=“ and now in CB the recruiter ID is preceeded by just “?ref=“

For example, if your recruiter link was:

It would now be:[your new number]

So links using the *|SENDERID|* merge field in MC used to be:*|SENDERID|*

Now they should be:*|SENDERREFID|*

E. Once you are satisfied with your edits, use the “Push to Mandrill” option from the Templates page to send your template to the FUT. It may take a few hours for the updates to appear in the FUT.

F. Once you are done creating and editing your templates, please send an email to for final review. Make sure you include the exact names of all the templates that you would like reviewed.

OR: To Create a New Template, use the “Create Template” button in the top right when you go to the templates page. Complete steps D - F above. Then, notify us at so we can push the template to the FUT.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
