CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced this week that the agency will be conducting a full review of the department’s "structures, systems, and processes" following their disastrous handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.
If that sounds like a good thing, you haven't learned much about our federal agencies over the last two years.
The CDC has no interest in real accountability. As part of their "evaluation," for example, the agency will look at how it has pursued "health equity," a leftist buzzword encompassing a raft of big-government social welfare policies.
Walensky also tapped Jim Macrae, the former acting administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration, to lead the "evaluation." Instead of securing the services of an outside firm, or even an Inspector General, Walensky turned to another federal insider to determine whether the CDC is doing a good job.
It gets better. Not only will the investigation be led by another public health bureaucrat, the data itself bill be collected by three senior-level CDC officials, according to the Daily Wire.
The CDC, in other words, will be evaluating itself. Do you think they'll give themselves high marks?
We the People need a real way to hold the alphabet soup of federal agencies accountable, and we've found one in Article V of the Constitution.
Article V allows the states to call a Convention of States for the purpose of proposing constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government, which will effectively eliminate a host of federal agencies and reduce the power of many others.
Amendments can clarify, for example, that the Framers had no intention of the national government controlling healthcare. With one simple amendment, we can eliminate the CDC and many of the other useless health agencies that used the pandemic to tyrannize the American people.
