Sixteen-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg's incendiary comments at the United Nations this week has the world debating the place of young people in important policy decisions.
"People are dying and dying ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth," she said Monday. "How dare you!"
But as the mainstream media obsesses over young climate crusaders, an even more serious threat to future generations is growing every year in Washington D.C.
As Convention of States co-founder Mike Farris explained in a recent Facebook post, the $22 trillion national debt represents a real, serious danger to our children and grandchildren:
Fortunately, the Founders gave We the People a more effective solution to this problem than crying in front of the UN.
An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that force Congress to be fiscally responsible.
These amendments can include a balanced budget amendment along with tax caps and real limits on spending. With this complete package of amendments in place, Washington will have no choice but to make the tough spending decisions for the good of future generations.
Thousands of young people across the country have realized that a Convention of States is their best chance at a secure financial future, and they've voiced their support at rallies, in state legislatures, and on college campuses.
