Sorry, Government. Our liberty isn't for sale

As the coronavirus continues to rattle the nation, millions of Americans have become consumed with fear of the potential impact the virus will have on the health of the country.

Unfortunately, with such mass hysteria comes those who wish to exploit that fear by weaponizing the current crisis to amass Orwellian-style power that will endanger the lives of the American people.

Politicians in government have slowly but surely begun to seize more power for themselves, violating basic constitutional rights and using the fear of the American people against them.

In addition to the issuance of "stay-at-home" orders by state governments, we're also seeing our constitutional rights violated at local levels of government.

Here's a list of some of the most draconian measures being used against the American people by government officials:

  • Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., is threatening residents with 90 days in jail and a $5,000 fine if they leave their homes during the current “stay-at-home” order.
  • Mayor Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles announced that the city will shut off water and electricity to nonessential businesses that refuse to close.
  • New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio threatened to permanently close down synagogues and churches that didn’t comply with his stay-at-home order.
  • Public officials in Manhattan have deployed flying drones telling citizens to social distance when out in public.
  • A man in Malibu, California, was arrested for paddle boarding alone in the ocean.
  • After ignoring local orders, a Florida pastor was arrested for holding crowded church services.
  • Mayors of cities like Boston and Daytona have put in place curfews for their citizens.

If Americans don’t wake up and realize what’s happening, we will lose everything that makes this country great.

We must demand accountability from governors and mayors alike and stand up for our constitutional rights and liberties.

Just because we're in the middle of a pandemic, doesn't mean our constitutional rights are up for grabs.

It's time to call a Convention of States and return to an era of self-governance.

If we don’t, the end result will be catastrophic, as the country we once knew and loved will be nothing but a faded memory of the past.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention for proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington, DC.

I support the Convention of States Project; a national effort to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of Article V Convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support the Convention of States Project and consider becoming a co-sponsor of the resolution. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
