Wisconsin Rep. John Nygren had had enough.
During the Convention of States debate on the House floor, he stood up to respond to his colleagues who have failed to take the Article V movement seriously.
He explained that even though he legislates on controversial issues like water, mining, and opioids, the Convention of States grassroots still outnumber the people speaking out on those other issues.
"I hear from my constituents. I can tell you I hear ten times more about this issue than all of those other issues combined."
In the background, other legislators nodded their heads.
"These are real people who are fed up with the direction of our federal government and are taking their time to contact us," he continued. "You think this is a joke? This is real to these people. This should be real to all of us."
Thanks in part to Rep. Nygren's words -- and the hundreds of volunteers who contacted their Wisconsin legislators -- the House passed the Convention of States Resolution 60-38.
As you can see, Convention of States volunteers can have a real impact on the legislative process. If you want to get involved, you can start by signing the Convention of States Petition below!
