Pelosi plans to pack pork in FOURTH coronavirus bill

Published in Blog on March 26, 2020 by Article V Patriot

House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi isn't giving up on using the coronavirus crisis to force Democratic priorities down the collective throat of the American people.

The Democrat-controlled House is set to approve the third coronavirus relief package on Friday after Pelosi failed to pack it with pork unrelated to the pandemic.

But CNN reported that the speaker still plans to push her agenda when Congress considers an inevitable fourth coronavirus response bill.

“What is important is for us to recognize the good that is in the bill, appreciate it for what it does,” Pelosi said on CNN’s “Situation Room” Wednesday evening. “Don’t judge it for what it doesn’t because we have more bills to come.”

“Those comments came just after Pelosi told House Democrats on a series of conference calls that she is already thinking about the substance of the fourth coronavirus relief package that Congress will have to pass to respond to the crisis, according to sources on the calls,” CNN reports. “Pelosi made it clear to members who are disappointed that the pending bill did not include enough of their priorities that they will have a chance to add those provisions in the fourth package, the sources said.”

The American people have had enough of their elected representatives pursuing political wins over the good of the country. It has become shockingly clear that Congress will use any excuse, any crisis to increase their power and influence over our daily lives.

When this crisis is over, there will be a reckoning for those representatives and senators who put politics over people. That reckoning will come at the ballot box, but it will also come at a Convention of States.

Millions of Americans and fifteen states have joined the nationwide effort to call the first-ever Article V Convention of States. A Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints on Congress, and mandate term limits for federal officials.

The root of the problem in Congress is that politicians like Pelosi have the power to spend money on things like requiring airlines to fully offset carbon emissions. They believe they have the power to control virtually any aspect of American life, and an Article V Convention of States can address this underlying problem.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
