Convention of States resolutions introduced in Pennsylvania!

Published in Blog on February 20, 2018 by Steven Thomas Polgar

If you believe that the federal government spending and the powers of its three branches are completely out-of-control, you should support a critically important legislative effort pending in Harrisburg.

It calls for the General Assembly to pass concurrent resolutions (SR 133 and HR 187) which will serve as an application to Congress to call a convention under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to discuss and propose amendments related to: term limits on federal officials, fiscal restraints on the federal government, and reducing federal power and jurisdiction.

The convention delegates would have only the power to consider and propose amendments to the Constitution, which would then have to be ratified by at least 38 states to become law. Once 34 states submit identical Article V applications, Congress is required to call a convention.

Unfortunately, there is opposition to this effort, and much of it comes from a Pennsylvania-based activist organization called Firearm Owners Against Crime (FOAC). The FOAC has created fear in the minds of many gun owners throughout the state, and by extension many of the state legislators.

Pennsylvania had more signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution than any other state. Pennsylvania had the second-highest number of combat deaths in the Revolutionary War, and is second to only New York in terms of Medal of Honor winners.

So historically Pennsylvanians have been among the bravest citizens our nation has ever seen.  The question now is will we take the lead once again to restore the Constitution and save the republic, or will we let fear and apathy condemn future generations to the tyranny of economic servitude and freedom-crushing centralization of political power?

Please contact your state representative and senator and let them know you will not let a campaign of fear silence you and ultimately destroy your children and grandchildren’s futures.

Urge them to contact General Assembly leadership and insist that SR 133 and HR 187 be passed as soon as possible.
