Despite the U.S State Department’s warnings against travel to many European countries in response to COVID-19 cases, President Biden and the first lady have announced plans to travel across Europe at the end of the month for a G-20 summit and to meet with Pope Francis.
Biden’s three destinations – Rome, the Vatican and the United Kingdom – are labeled by his own administration as high-risk locations. The U.S. Department of State classifies all countries from a Level 1 to a Level 4, signifying a fairly safe destination up to a do-not-travel level.
The Vatican and Rome are currently marked as Level 3, meaning would-be travelers should reconsider their plans. Will Biden reconsider his travel plans? Likely not, but the rest of America apparently should in order to exercise top safety.
“Reconsider travel to Italy due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution due to terrorism,” the government website states.
The U.K. is also a hot spot according to Biden’s administration, currently standing at a Level 4 travel advisory, meaning do not travel to the country. Why is Biden going against his own recommendations?
The hypocrisy is not new. But it does beg the question: why do we even need the federal government’s recommendations when it’s so obvious that they do not need to be followed?
After conducting an entire presidential campaign virtually and staying very hidden from the public, Biden appears to now disregard his virus concerns when it comes to meeting with other world leaders abroad.
Over $52 billion in taxpayer money was directed to the state department under the 2020 budget, and Trump deceased that number down to $40 billion in 2021, according to government records.
Even with the slight decrease under the former president, why does a federal agency need so much money when their safety recommendations are not even recognized by their own boss? It comes down to this: either their work is unnecessary to the country or the current president is a major risk-taker who ignores his own guidance.
Less government allows for more self-governance and liberty. When federal agencies grow bigger, the people’s independence begins to fade, as we've seen over the last 18 months.
We’ve seen this hypocrisy in many cases, from Nancy Pelosi’s hairdresser situation, to Gavin Newsom’s restaurant dilemma.
A Convention of States can limit the control the federal elite possess over the people. Article V can not just stop the growth of the federal government, but also enact term limits and reasonable budgets.

More elite hypocrisy: Biden headed to countries under travel warnings by his own state department (but you must obey the rules!)
