In states across the country, lobbyists who oppose the use of Article V try to mislead state legislators -- not only about the facts of Article V, but about the grassroots Americans who support it.
In South Carolina, Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler had had enough of the slander. He spoke out in defense of the amazing Convention of States volunteers and supporters, and took down some of the most common arguments against the Convention of States process.
"I want to address this phrase that she used repeatedly. She said, 'This movement is full of constitutionally illiterate persons of insidious values.' I'm going to defend people who aren't going to be able to speak for themselves today. She's referring to over 33,000 grassroots in South Carolina," he said.
"I think this is one of the fundamental problems with our politics. It does a grave disservice to our system of politics. It's tearing our society apart."
