State of the Project update from Brett Sterley, State Director for Convention of States Missouri.
Overall, 2018 was a tremendous year for the Convention of States Project. Our resolution was introduced in new states for the first time. We received committee hearings in states where we've never had hearings before.
We received floor votes in some states for the first time. We've added endorsements from nationally-known individuals like: Sean Hannity, Pete Hegseth, Dr. James Dobson, Peter Coors, Professor Robert G. Natelson, Ben Shapiro, James O'Keefe, Charlie Kirk, Judge Andrew Napolitano, David Barton, Lawrence Jones, and more.
These endorsements are great, but the most effective way to advance the cause of liberty is through the grassroots. The involvement of engaged citizens like yourself is how our Constitution and founding principles will be restored.
We are truly at a crossroads. It is abundantly clear that D.C. is unwilling and unable to restrain itself. As the federal government grows, individual liberty contracts. The federal government is committing fiscal child abuse by saddling generations yet unborn with crushing debt.
The dollars the federal government spends today are those of your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will not stop until they are forced to do so.
Thankfully, the Framers understood this and provided We the People with a tool to restrain the federal government if it strayed outside of its constitutional limits. It is our responsibility to those who fought and died for our country, to our children, to future generations and to the world, to follow the Framers' instructions.
The 100th General Session of the Missouri Legislature begins on Wednesday, January 9. We will have several events taking place statewide in 2019.
Our team will be on the ground in Jefferson City meeting new legislators, growing relationships with incumbent legislators, and educating our fellow citizens about Article V. Watch your e-mail and text messages for updates.
You can also find current information on this blog page and the Missouri Landing Page. We hope you will take an active role in these activities.
Thank you for your support. Have a safe and Happy New Year.
